This class reports to an agency other than City Council or the Richmond Retirement Department. This class creates and disseminates visual, digital, written, and spoken information. Incumbents provide crisis/emergency public information and professional communications support to the department by performing journey-level public information, public affairs, and marketing work. Work may include handling media inquiries; writing, editing, and distributing departmental news releases and advisories; writing scripts and talking points; handling citizen inquiries; obtaining citizen input; providing communications support within the department; managing internal and external communications, as assigned; developing communication plans; developing and managing collateral material (e.g. brochures, inserts, newsletters); preparing online content and web pages; managing the internal website for the department, managing the department's social media accounts; implementing the brand through communications; participating in meetings and events, as assigned; designing and editing documents, page layouts, and graphic elements; preparing PowerPoint and video presentations; and scheduling interviews.
Supervision Exercised/Received:
• Exercised: This classification typically does not supervise other employees but may act as a lead worker;
• Received: This classification typically reports to a Public Information Manager, Deputy Director, or Director level position;

The City of Richmond, Department of Fire and Emergency Service is seeking a Communications and Marketing Analyst (Digital Media Specialist) who will be responsible for building and maintaining a positive image for the City of Richmond and Richmond Fire and Emergency Services through brand management. The purpose of this position is to provide the general public and interested media with information and a means of communication designed to provide accurate and timely information and to help develop a positive public view of the department. This role will oversee the Marketing and Public Relations for Richmond Fire.
