Our long-term client relationship with Jacobs has led to a need for an Engineering Project Manager - Space Suits on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX). JETS provides products and technical services related to human operations in space through development and integration of a broad spectrum of engineering requirements. This includes human spacecraft flight and flight development products, human exploration mission planning for NASA, institution support services, and new technology development.

(SGT)/ KBRwyle on the Integrated Mission Operations Contract II (IMOC II) contract at JSC • KBRwyle on the Fully Integrated Lifecycle Mission Support Services (FILMSS) contract at Ames Research Center The Engineering Project Manager - Space Suits will: • Perform project management and engineering functions for EVA spacesuit development, including requirements development, hardware development, manufacturing, assembly, and test. • Manage the engineering team for the specific space suit subsystem assigned. • Provide budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating support. Monitor cost performance for their subsystem development against established plans. • Develop and maintain company and customer financial reports. • Oversee and develop schedules, procedures, work instructions and process flows. • Update the the Development Plan to keep it in sync with schedules. Develop risks and risk mitigation plans for rollup into the higher-level risk system. • Interact frequently with inter-organizational disciplines, NASA System Managers, and operational customers. • Help generate test rig requirements and assist in writing test reports for components. • Work with component owners to help them manage the day-to-day activities associated with their components. • Generate and update component end-item specifications. • Perform all other assigned duties. Required Education/Experience/Skills: • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and twelve (12) years of direct engineering experience, or PhD. degree and nine (9) years direct engineering experience. - OR – • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of fifteen (15) years of direct engineering experience or MS degree from an accredited engineering school and thirteen years of direct engineering experience or Ph.D. degree from an accredited engineering school and nine (9) years of direct engineering experience. Membership (or equivalent recognition) on an external technical society, committee/board. • Experience managing and leading projects. • Experience with financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines. • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software. Preferences: • Experience with space suits or life support systems. • Experience with NASA/JSC Class I flight hardware process and certification. • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures. Essential Requirements • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation. • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. • Work may involve sitting for extended periods. • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb. • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary. • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.) • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required. • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
