Description of Work This position is located at New Hanover Correctional Center in Wilmington, NC. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain accurate and timely filing of documentation in inmate records. This position is also responsible for sentence auditing on inmates returning from court/trial. Daily duties will involve assisting with coverage on the switchboard and assisting Programs Department staff with typing and filing functions when requested by supervisor(s). This person will create and maintain administrative reports, special projects, informational flyers, meeting minutes, memos, calendars and spreadsheets for the Programs Section. Must have the ability to become DCI certified. This position works under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders who who can become physically violent or verbally abusive. This position may also be asked to assist with planning departmental meetings and social functions. Therefore you must demonstrate through documented experience or provide supporting information within the body of your application to demonstrate your possession of ALL KSAs listed. • Documented composition and communication skills (written and oral) • Documented proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Minimum Education And Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
