The employee in this position is responsible for ensuring that accounting functions such as accounts payable, capital construction, procurement and travel card programs, position cost, payroll (CPPS), COFRS expenditures and refunds, fixed assets, appropriation control, federal grants and distributions are carried out in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, policies and accounting principles. The position tracks year-end accrual activities to ensure proper financial statement presentation on COFRS; functions as a point of contact for expenditure accounting issues; provides guidance and direction to information technology applications development staff for system design and modification; supervises three FTE and performs all associated supervisory duties; and performs other as needed.Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, which included 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing. AND Four years of professional experience in accounting or auditing. Substitutions: Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. • Current, valid licensure as a CPA from the Colorado Board of Accountancy will substitute for the degree requirement and two years of the required experience.
