Serve as a Certified Lead Risk Assessor, conducting group home inspections and lead risk assessments associated with children's elevated blood lead levels. A high school diploma and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical
sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills, be able to make presentations in a group setting, and communicate clearly and concisely in both an oral and written manner; work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently in a field environment. Encourage positive working relationships with coworkers, industry, and government officials; work in all reasonable weather conditions; access non-traditional work environments; traverse uneven grounds, climb ladders, stoop, lift and carry up to 50 pounds; walk on narrow catwalks that require a sense of balance; make visual observations of facilities, samples, plans, specifications, reports, etc.; visually differentiate between various shades of color; conduct field tests, using delicate instruments and chemicals, which require steady hands; wear the required safety equipment as needed, to include but not limited to, safety glasses, lab coats, and nitrile or latex gloves; and maintain a professional personal appearance. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record. This position requires the successful completion of prescribed technical coursework and passing any test relevant to the position, including becoming certified as an EPA Lead Risk Assessor, within the probationary period or trial period. Occasional overnight travel may be required. This position may require participation on or assistance to the Emergency Response Team and will be subject to on call or call back 24/7. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field; or an associate degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and two years of environmental health or related experience; or high school diploma and four years of environmental health or related experience. Institutions of higher learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. If selected for this position you will be required to provide an official college transcript providing your educational background and degree status. Current or previous EPA Lead Risk Assessor certification. The ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Experience in conducting environmental investigations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).DRIVING RECORD: This position may require the operation of a state vehicle; therefore, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
