Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Special Instructions Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of relevant experience, which includes at least 7 years of marketing experience, preferably in scientific fields. Advanced degree highly desirable. Must have demonstrated strong strategic planning and implementation skills; ability to communicate effectively; superior communications, written and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of current technology and application of ever-changing digital and social media communications strategies extremely desirable. Essential Functions Responsibilities: 1) Works with the Director of HICCC and the University Communications teams to develop a comprehensive marketing program that emphasizes key new initiatives, as well as highlights the unique areas of strength. 2) Provides strategic marketing advice and support to HICCC faculty and leadership. 3) Develops a range of marketing materials and tools that support and project the mission and goals of HICCC. 4) Provides support for public and media relations programs. Develops story pitches that position HICCC and its faculty as leaders in the field. 5) Actively keeps abreast of faculty research of potential news interest. 6) Identifies and exploits the latest trends in digital communications, including developing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated social media strategy, as well as using video and other multi-media to enhance brand recognition and reputation. 7) Coordinates communication with internal audiences, including providing support to the Director in developing remarks and presentations to key stakeholders (both internal and external) 8) Oversees content development and front-end web functions for the HICCC website, including providing guidance on story development and placement, web design and user experience, and information architecture. 9) Maintains proactive relationship with Columbia University Medical Center's Communications staff and coordinates shared projects. 10 Interface with grateful patients, arrange tours of the cancer center, talks for the community, etc. Additional Essential Functions (Limit to 3950 characters.)
