DSHS Financial Services Specialist 4 
The Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA) is currently seeking a Financial Services Specialist to provide intensive and expert level eligibility services to our high risk population who are
medically and financially dependent on our services located in Vancouver, WA. Some of what you'll do: • Determine eligibility for service programs such as Community Options Program Entry System (COPES), hospice, alternate care services programs, nursing facility, institutional care or Medicaid Personal Care • Expedite eligibility in emergent situations such as expedited food assistance, facility closure and hospital discharges • Provide professional case management and evaluate services for a broad range of people seeking Long Term Services and Support services through the Home and Community Services office • Conduct intensive face to face, telephone, and home visit interviews with client, client representative, attorney, guardian, etc. • Analyze and verify various complex legal documents to determine impact on Long Term Care eligibility • Act as a source of information for Social Service Specialists and Area Agency on Aging Case Managers, agency social workers, (internal and external), medical providers, guardians, authorized representatives and attorneys • Input and receive data using multiple automated systems What we're looking for: • Knowledge of department rules and requirements governing the administration of long term care programs administered by Home and Community Services • Experience using automated systems such as Document Management System (DMS), ACES, Barcode • Ability to interpret and analyze complex and contradictory data • Knowledge of computer systems and the ability to use Microsoft Windows and Word Who should apply? Professionals with a Bachelor's degree AND twelve months experience as a Financial Services Specialist 3; OR Experience examining/processing loan applications, medical insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment insurance claims, or a job providing staff support in financial eligibility determination, or in a job analyzing, verifying, and evaluating financial data and information, will substitute year for year, for education and experience; AND Satisfactory completion of the agency's Financial Services Specialist Training Program. NOTE: Out-of-State experience conducting financial eligibility determinations for public assistance to include financial, medical and food assistance programs will be considered toward experience.
