This position is located at Scotland Correctional Institution in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Scotland Correctional Institution is a 1756 bed facility housing minimum/medium/close custody male inmates managed by approximately 564 staff. This position provides office support service for the Correctional Housing Unit Manager I and II of the minimum custody housing unit; receives and directs visitors; operates a multi-line phone system and performs advanced administrative duties. This position will be required to operate, with accuracy, various office machines, i.e.. computers, typewriters, calculators, fax, and copy machines. Must be able to effectively communicate with staff, applicants, outside agencies, and the general public in oral and written form. Must be able to comprehend and abide by policy and procedures, interpret instructions given orally or in written form, compose memorandum, letters, official court documents, investigatory reports, statistical reports with limited instruction from supervisor. Must be able to proofread documents for spelling, grammar and punctuation and effectively maintain files and records according to Departmental Policy and Procedures to provide quick easy access and retrieval of information required by policy. This position will record and transcribe meeting minutes as needed. This position enters timesheets for employees in BEACON. Must be able to work under stressful conditions in meeting daily and monthly deadlines. This position will receive and process mail.
