Will monitor school surveillance system; respond to notifications of incidents occurring on school campus which may include criminal activity and maintenance issues where police and/or appropriate police, operations or maintenance personnel may be required. Essential Functions Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation: • Receive, relay and/or transmit routine and emergency calls to police and other agencies and units as appropriate following established procedures. • Coordinates School Police responses with other District departments, law enforcement and agencies. • Operates and monitors computer-based, multi-frequency radio system, alarm system and surveillance cameras. • Maintains dispatch office records as required following established procedures. • Assists Maintenance & Operations after working hours as follows: • Processes and relays work order forms. • Receives and relays routine and emergency calls. The Minimum Expectations For This Job Are As Follows PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE: • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. • Flexibility, organization, multi-tasking, decision-making and problem solving skills. • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone. • Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial and legal requirements. • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects. • Keyboarding requirement: 35 words per minute minimum. • Knowledge of word processing, database, network and spreadsheet software. • Ability to operate a two-way radio over multiple channels and a multi-line phone system. • Knowledge of criminal and civil law terminology. • Dispatch experience preferred. Requirements EDUCATION AND LICENSURE: The minimum requirements for this job are as follows: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Ability to obtain Police Radio Dispatcher and National Crime Information Center Operator certification within one (1) year of hire.
