This position is located in the Office of Budget & Finance in uptown Columbia, SC. Under general supervision, this position performs professional accounting duties in the creation and maintenance of
accounting records and the verification and documentation of financial transactions in the Office of Budget & Finance, ensuring that agency policies and procedures are followed, accurate and timely payments are made, and internal and external customers are served. The duties and responsibilities of this position include the following: • Review and approve the data entry of requests for disbursements to external payees for insurance claims to ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures within established time-lines. • Review and approve transfers/disbursements to other state agencies, reviewing the transaction and supporting documents for accuracy, appropriate documentation, and proper authorizations. • Review open transfers and requests for payment and effectively communicate with the appropriate office/division to insure timely processing. • Provide assistance to the agency divisions and accounts payable staff to research and resolve invoice issues. • Analyze out of state purchases for determination of Use Tax applications. • Coordinate authorization of agency personnel for vehicle rental services and fuel cards. • Review and analyze vehicle rental charges and fuel charges. • Analyze and identify cost allocations for agency wide invoices for services. • Monitor system error reports for financial transactions. • Assist in the development and updating of office operating procedures.A high school diploma and related financial experience.
