Position Description Advertised Job Summary The International Enrollment Coordinator works collaboratively with the Director and Assistant Director to grow international student enrollment at USC Upstate and support the personal and academic success of international students, with special focus on the University’s participation with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities ( AASCU ) and the Sino-American Cooperation on Higher Education and Professional Development ( CHEPD ) 1+2+1 Dual Degree Program. The Coordinator will also enhance and expand the activities with partner universities and others to implement and promote 2+2, 3+1, and 3+1+1 degree completion programs at USC Upstate. Serve as lead person coordinating China programs and ensure that USC Upstate’s interests are promoted with regard to international student recruitment. Assist with international student recruitment, and support students in the 1 + 2+ 1 degree programs through the consortia agreement between American Association of State Colleges and Universities ( AASCU ) and China Center for International Education and Exchange ( CCIEE ). Serve as primary advisor to international students and scholars regarding non-immigrant visa matters; advises international students and scholars on maintaining their visa status and good standing at USC Upstate; and provides guidance regarding regulations pertaining to visa applications, enrollment matters, employment authorization, advising, information reporting and record-keeping. Assists with development and implementation of short-term programs for visiting international students at USC Upstate. Maintains USC Upstate’s visibility abroad through use of social media platforms and web presence. Assist international students with pre-departure/arrival preparations. Plan, coordinate and execute comprehensive orientations for new international students. Plans and implements programming throughout the academic year that are designed to support international student retention, and facilitate integration of international students and scholars at USC Upstate and community at large. Evaluates and processes international undergraduate exchange student applications and assists with recruiting international applicants as needed. Attend all relevant training sessions, meetings, seminars, conferences, recruitment sessions, and other relevant activities planned by AASCU in China, Washington DC, or other designated sites. Qualifications Master’s degree in Student Services or related field and 2 years work experience in international education, or a bachelor’s degree and 4 years related work experience. Successful background check is required. Additional Qualifications: This position requires travel within the United States and internationally – ability to maintain current passport and visa(s) or obtain visa’s as needed. Ability to cultivate and maintain positive interactions with a diverse student population. Preferred Qualifications: Chinese language skills; experience with TerraDotta and SEVIS databases; prior experience supporting international students; and personal experience studying/working/serving abroad. Knowledge/Skills/Expertise Required: Proven experience with international education, programs, and cultures. Expertise with the unique challenges that students face as they study in the U.S. as well as U.S. students abroad. Experience with visa documentation and requirements. Ability to manage and motivate others. Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to help and motivate others; willing to work after hours and weekends as needed. Candidates should have a global mindset that demonstrates self-awareness and ability to communicate and relate effectively across cultures.
