Communications/Public Relations/Marketing, Student Affairs/Services Position Summary: This is the Marketing and Underwriting Coordinator position at KRUA 88.1FM, the student radio station at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Duties: Job Posting Summary: The marketing and underwriting coordinator promotes the image and brand of KRUA 88.1 FM and raises funds to support the station. This position is responsible for the following regular tasks: coordinates KRUA social media platforms; manages the KRUA website via Wordpress; creates promotional materials; develops and assists in ordering promotional merchandise; tables monthly across campus; represents KRUA to the UAA community; maintains and develops relationships throughout UAA and the Anchorage community; facilitates the underwriting process, and; processes underwriting requests via the production director. This position reports to the station manager with occasional direct supervision and works alongside the production, volunteer and music coordinators. KRUA 88.1 FM is an educational station created in order to enhance the student experience at the University of Alaska Anchorage by providing music, news, sports, campus event coverage, and real-life broadcast situations. KRUA employs ten students and trains volunteer DJ's each year and partners with the Journalism & Communications department to provide training and hands-on experience for JPC and other students, while collaborating with The Northern Light for event coverage and news reporting. Knowledge/skills/abilities: Applicants must demonstrate: understanding of FCC regulations; experience with station equipment, on-air broadcast and digital audio production; effective communication skills, both verbally and written; proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Wordpress, and InDesign programs; experience with graphic illustration and design; ability to work with minimal supervision, and; previous experience working in an environment that requires public contact. Completion of the first two KRUA volunteer trainings, consisting of voice tracking and public service announcements, is required within three months of hiring. Typical education or training required: Generally a sophomore or higher. Business courses or similar experience. To be eligible for this position a student must: a. Be admitted and enrolled in a University of Alaska degree-seeking program with a minimum of six credit hours for undergraduate students or six credit hours for graduate students during regular semesters of employment; or b. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and c. Have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA), 2.5 term grade point average or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee, and maintain successful academic progress. d. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer. e. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility. f. Position reappointment is contingent upon successful progress toward degree completion and performance evaluation. This position is 20 hours/week during the academic year and the salary is $10.50/hour.
