Pikes Peak Community College is located at the foot of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado. NOTE: This full-time position typically will work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.JOB DUTIES: Your application must provide a detailed description of your relevant work experience in relation to the following duties: This full-time position provides technical accounting support to the Financial Services Office by posting and reconciling all Cashier Office transactions in a timely and accurate manner; work leader to two Accounting Technician I positions; and provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Cashier work lead duties include: creates monthly work schedule for three campuses. Prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines. Identifies issues, conducts research, and proposes solutions based on departmental policy. Receives, posts, balances and deposits funds, including ACH payments/transfers. Maintains a system for documenting, identifying and properly processing checks sent for deposit with no documentation or directions. Prepares daily deposits for pickup by armored car service. Communicates and coordinates with Student Accounts third party team members regarding deposits, reconciliations and discrepancies. Provides proof of debt for collection agencies and disputes. Determines the proper account number to deposit receipts either by payment receive at the cashier's window or through the U.S. mail. Opens and closes cash drawers utilizing balancing steps and departmental procedures. Cashier activity and deposits duties include: balances daily batches by comparing the activity recorded on the system to the day's bank deposit, and reconciles any variances. Completes deposit slips for bank deposits and deposit log for armored service. Logs all bank deposits. Verifies bank deposits of Accounting Technician I positions. Scans approved batches into system and files accordantly. Positon works with Accounts Payable area to coordinate distribution of all checks held in the Cashiers Office. Verifies proper identification and, in the case of student loads and veteran advance checks, verifies enrollment and account balances. Proposes resolution for any check remaining in the Cashier Office for an extended period of time. Position controls Petty Cash fund by assuring there are adequate levels of cash for making changes and cashing checks. Ensures proper cash handling practices and compliance. Reviews and verifies cash/safe counts at random. Verifies cash drawers of Accounting Technician I positions. In addition, this position communicates with students registered for classes regarding payment options, financial aid awards, or figure their portion due when they have tuition assistance. Balances credit card payments made on the web to Banner student account systems. Reviews and approve chargebacks processed by Accounting Technician I positions. Backup support for FRZ, CDC contracts, returned checks, parking tickets and library fines. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of technical accounting, cashiering or bookkeeping experience. Do not use "SEE RESUME" statements on application; your application must be completed in detail and clearly document your relevant work experience. (Part time experience will be pro-rated). SUBSTITUTION: Two years (60 semester hours) of college, university or non-correspondence business school which included twelve (12) semester credit hours of accounting can substitute for the required experience. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Please provide a detailed description on your application of your relevant work experience and document examples of your work in relation to the following: Associate degree in Accounting or related degree. Experience verifying and balancing credit card payments and accounts; cashier experience; experience preparing bank deposits; experience working with a student information system such as BANNER or similar system; and ability to deal with a diverse population with discretion and tact; prior experience working in a Higher Education Institution. Customer service experience. Prior work lead or supervising staff experience. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment background check, as a condition of hire.
