MAXIMUM RECRUITMENT SALARY - $57,099 This position conducts field investigations of insurance related crimes including fraud, embezzlement, forgery and bail bonding. Must be experienced in conducting interviews, analysis of financial records, report writing, preparation of court orders, and criminal case organization. Must be able to present case findings to prosecutorial authorities and testify at both the state and federal levels. Requires travel and potentially irregular work schedules. This is a sworn law enforcement position and requires certification or the ability, aptitude, and character required for certification. "Must reside or willingness to relocate to one of the following NC counties: Craven, Carteret, Jones, Pender, Duplin, Lenoir, Onslow or Pamilico." • Basic knowledge of laws pertaining to insurance fraud, embezzlement, and the laws of admissible evidence that relate to courtroom procedures. • Basic knowledge of the methods, procedures, and practices used in the investigation of criminal offenses. • ?Ability to establish and maintain favorable working relationships with law enforcement officials, court officials and officials of the insurance industry. • Ability to investigate criminal cases, make arrests, prepare comprehensive and detailed reports pertaining to individual cases, present effective court testimony, and apply the principles, techniques,and procedures of modern criminal investigations. • Ability to apply the criminal statutes of North Carolina to criminal investigations, evidence collection,legal processes, arrest, and courtroom procedures and practices. • Proficient in the use of firearms and other equipment used in the collection and preservation of evidence.Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of law enforcement experience, preferably focusing on white collar crime; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Certification as a sworn law enforcement officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards. NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION: Certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission, or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Four-year degree with coursework in accounting or business administration, knowledge of the insurance industry in North Carolina, experience investigating arson and/or fire investigations, and five-years of criminal investigative experience with a law enforcement agency.
