The Administrative I position will function as a Program Assistant and is a team member of the Forest Management Branch within the North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS). This position works directly with the Forest Stewardship Program Coordinator and the Urban Forestry Program Coordinator. Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to: budget preparation, purchase documentation, expenditure tracking and reporting for multiple grants; database entry and record keeping; purchasing; and scheduling. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, particularly in areas of finance, budget management principles, accounting, office management support, and accomplishment summarization. This position will also work closely with the NCFS Forest Health Branch Head to assist with the administration of the Southern Pine Beetle Prevention Program (SPBPP). This program provides financial assistance to landowners and this position would be responsible for processing or approving applications for program funding and payments. This position will also work with NCFS Field Units as it relates to all Forest Management Programs to advertise workshops/training events, communicate agency funding sources and grant requirements to facilitate payment and collection of all grant purchase documentation relating to agency sponsored events or training. This position may assist other NCFS Administrative personnel with duties such as purchasing, copying, mailing and special projects. The position requires a well-organized person who can manage multiple assignments, priorities and deadlines simultaneously, and quickly adapt new techniques and technology.
