The Charlottesville Transportation Department is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the position of Marketing Coordinator who are highly motivated and who strive for success by demonstrating Charlottesville's Core Values of Leadership, Trust, Creativity, Respect, and Excellence. The starting salary will be between $45,302.40 and $54,995.20 annually. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, exempt, position. Under general supervision, develops and implements marketing strategies to increase ridership and provide awareness and information to the public about Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT). Perform other tasks related to effective management of the program, including but not limited to administering ad contracts. Primarily and most frequently the work done here is performed independently, with diverse functional areas and more specialization and ability to train others. • Prepares and implements a comprehensive marketing plan to promote CAT; • Responsible for: CAT Internet and Facebook page updates and coordination with Information Technology staff, writing and designing advertisements, brochures, promotional, and CAT collateral materials, drafting and distributing media releases and service notices, facilitating community programs and initiatives; writing and distributing Transit Division newsletter, and providing record-keeping and reporting related to all assigned areas of responsibility; • Oversees the design, revision, and production of the CAT Rider's Guide in coordination with local printers; • Reviews CAT logo and colors in connection with vehicle, uniforms, facilities, bus stops, print, internet, and promotional materials and recommendations aimed at brand enhancements; • Serves as a spokesperson for CAT with the media; drafts and distributes media releases and service notices; • Develops and facilitates various community programs; • Coordinates community events and provides outreach to neighborhoods and schools to raise public awareness; • Represents CAT to community and makes informational presentations to a wide variety of community organizations; • Collects and analyzes data related to all assigned areas of responsibility; • Prepares and manages an annual marketing budget; • Responsible for annual transit advertising sales goal, and coordinating ad sales program with CAT staff; • Identifies projects for potential grant assistance and coordinate with staff; • Performs related tasks as required.Minimum Qualifications: • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in advertising, marketing, or related field; • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the marketing of a public service or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of public service marketing and operations is preferred. A portfolio may be requested during an interview. Skills: Ability to initiate effective marketing strategies and develop workable promotional programs; ability to communicate ideas clearly, orally or in writing; ability to establish effective working relationships with citizens, media representatives and other officials. Must be a highly creative professional able to create integrated multimedia campaigns. Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Photoshop). Must be highly organized and efficient and possess demonstrated competence in graphic design, writing, data analysis, and reporting. Standard office environment
