The chairperson reports to the dean of the RCHM and is responsible for the department’s academic programs (including curriculum), administration, faculty recruitment, planning, and financial affairs. The chairperson acts as the department’s advocate to fulfill the missions of the department, college, and university, and participates on the college Executive Committee. The selected candidate will represent the department to students, faculty, administration, and the industry. The chairperson also leads the faculty in pursuit of grants and contracts as well as developing a flow of research from the department. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a 12-month, tenured professor or associate professor position, anticipated to begin in January 2020 or earlier.

Associate professors are expected to obtain the rank of professor within three years of appointment as chair.; (2) meet the UCF requirements for tenure; (3) have obtained a doctoral degree from an accredited institution with at least one degree in Hospitality or Tourism Management, or a related field; (4) have a demonstrated record of research resulting in publications in highly rated journals; (5) have a record of teaching and service that is current and consistent with UCF standards and aspirations; (6) have been (or currently are) successfully engaged in educational leadership experiences; and (7) have demonstrated the ability to communicate and interact effectively with others and promote and maintain a collaborative professional and positive departmental culture. Preferred Qualifications: An established record of grant activities and practical experience in hospitality management.
