The Senior Data Engineer in Manufacturing IT, will work on the collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing of huge sets of data.The primary focus will be on choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, then maintaining, implementing, and monitoring them. You will also be responsible for integrating them with the data architecture used across the company. Responsibilities include:
• Combination of mentoring, solution architecting, business pursuit, operations, and delivery management. • Should have played the role of a Consultant/ Architect. • Responsibilities will include planning for lateral resource intake and grooming internal talent based on the business pipeline. • Will be responsible for building high performance teams and mentoring of resources, in terms of the subject knowledge. • Will be responsible for regular delivery reviews and oversight of engagements that have financial business processes as critical components. • Will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the Big Data or Data Engineering area during the pursuit process and during project execution. • Will continuously evaluate the market opportunities in the realm of Big Data or Data Engineering and enhance the service offerings to address the market needs. • Responsible for providing thought leadership emanating in the form of discussion papers and white papers to create best in class practices and tools for all client engagement. • Highly articulate with excellent communication and presentation skills. • Ability to work with multi-cultural teams Auto req ID: 110514BR Skillpool: Technical Information and Data Country of Work Location: United States Company Description: Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies with about 84,000 employees across more than 70 countries. Work Location: Houston - EP Center Americas Requirements: • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer. • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Data Management business. • Extensive hands-on working experience of at least eight (8) Years as Data Engineer or Data Integration consultant. • Proficient understanding of data engineering principles with different data lake frameworks and architecture models (e.g. Lambda, event sourcing, CAP Theorem, CQRS) • Establish a rapport with business and inside IT team to articulate the business value for proposed data specific use cases • Good in analyzing the data and do profiling, data munging or data wrangling with different tools (e.g. Alteryx, Trifacta, Ataccama) • Integrating any Data Warehouse (e.g. PI/SQL Server Data Warehouse/SAP Hana/ SAP BW/ OBIEE/Teradata) or Big Data tools (e.g. Hadoop, Cassandra, MongoDB, Alteryx, Data bricks, Hive, Pig, Impala, Hbase, Flume, Spark SQL/Spark Streaming) in a cloud or non-cloud based environment) and frameworks required to Provide requested capabilities • Implementing ETL process to extract data from different manufacturing system using Azure Data Factory or Alteryx or open source tools. Awareness of OData or REST API is mandatory. • Monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure changes • Strong experience on building visualization using Power BI/SAP Lumira or SAP Design Studio or Spotfire. • Awareness of data analytics methodology and frameworks to build model using R or Python • Experience with Big Data ML toolkits, such as Matlab, SparkML, or H2O is plus • Hands-on exposure on Azure services and tools (e.g. Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure ML) is plus. • Basics of data science knowledge is mandatory and understanding of descriptive statistics is essential. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong Technical leadership - should be able to build technical capability and provide mentoring Hands-on working experience with Big Data tools as mentioned above.​Additional information • Must be amenable to travel within US/CA refineries at least twice a month for a couple of days. • City, State (if applicable): Houston, TX
