This class performs skilled technical duties in area of specialty, including survey field work, operating total station, assisting survey crew chief, data gathering, research, plans design and review, and technical equipment operation. This is a "mandatory testing" position requires Drug Testing. Examples of Duties:Reviews, tracks, and maintains plan designs, plats, and/or other related legal documents, which may include: evaluating compliance with applicable rules, regulations, ordinances, and/or other related items; issuing permits; preparing plan review comments; estimating project costs; monitoring changes; preparing recommendations based on findings; recording plats with the Clerk of the Court; and/or, performing other related activities. Responds to requests for information from the general public; investigates complaints; documents and disseminates findings. Conducts site and plan inspections and research; prepares documents and reports summarizing findings. Maintains logs and records related to daily activities; maintains databases and files. Operates a variety of specialized tools and equipment. Participates in a variety of meetings and development conferences. Construction layout, ability to read and comprehend construction plans. Proficient with Standards/Code lists and survey requirements. Adhere to QA/QC procedures and note taking. Follows instructions/work orders from Project Managers. Performs routine inspections of equipment to ensure items are in proper working order. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Positions Assigned To Surveying May Be Responsible For Establishing and marking land boundaries; Performing location surveys; Determining limits of public rights-of-way; Setting up GPS equipment; Researching property boundaries for legal acquisition purposes. Must be able to accurately perform vertical and horizontal control surveys and required calculations under direction of a Registered Land Surveyor. Proficient with GPS, Robotic Total Station, and Data Collectors. Qualifications:Training and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in area of specialty, and one to three years of experience in survey, construction inspection, environmental engineering, CADD and/or general construction; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Licensing Requirements Valid driver's license Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Mathematical principles; Basic construction and/or survey principles and practices; Database management principles; Construction inspection principles and practices. Reading and comprehending drawings, parcel maps, improvement plans, and specifications; Using a computer and related software applications; Maintaining databases; Estimating project costs; Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, plats, and related documents; Operating applicable instruments, hand-held data collectors, levels, and/or other related tools of the trade; Interpreting land survey data; Performing mathematical calculations; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Physical Requirements Supplemental Information: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, dusts, extreme temperatures, intense noises and travel.
