Job: Marketing & Communications Manager, Opening Nights Performing Arts Company: Florida State University Location: Tallahassee, FL Job Description Department Opening Nights Performing Arts Responsibilities Reporting to the Opening Nights at Florida State University (ON) Director, the position is responsible for the development and management of marketing, advertising, public relations, promotions, and web/social presence for ON at Florida State University and provides additional oversight and support of special events and artist programming. Duties include planning, developing, coordinating, managing, and implementing annual and long-term marketing strategies. Develops and manages all marketing advertising, promotional, web/social, and public relations plans that articulate focused and diverse efforts to exceed earned revenue goals through event ticket sales and enhance the ON brand. Cultivates new and sustains current audience relationships using print, electronic, and other innovative communication and retention marketing vehicles. Develops and sustains strategic and collaborative marketing partnerships with University colleges and departments, relevant community organizations, stakeholders, and industry professionals. Works with University Communications to manage the editing and production of traditional and electronic collateral to market and advertise the annual performing arts series and other ON initiatives (community engagement, campus involvement, K12 programs), oversees the photography and videography of performances and events, and steers the production of press and media releases. Oversees the departmental website including updating performances, maintaining up-to-date information for artists, supervising membership and sponsorship pages, etc. Manages social media accounts on all platforms and maintains an aggressive content calendar to keep ON messaging timely, on trend, and engaging. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience directly related to the duties of this job; or high school diploma/equivalent and eight years of experience in the same. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.) Ability to manage multiple campaigns in diverse social media platforms. Knowledge of marketing and advertising campaigns with content development for print publications, web, social media and earned media. Demonstrable track record of familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies. Ability to balance marketing campaigns with active customer service. Knowledge of marketing and advertising/sponsorship program development. Basic eye for design, writing to develop and deliver positive and impactful marketing materials and messages. Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends using website analytics. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required. Valid FL or GA Driver’s License, or ability to obtain. Pay Plan This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
