+ Description + Benefits + Questions Supplemental Information This vacancy is located within the Louisiana Department of Revenue – Field Audit Sales Tax Division and is domiciled in the Thibodeaux, Louisiana area. The position is responsible for the following parishes: Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Mary, Assumption, St. James and St. John the Baptist. • This posting may be used to fill vacancies in other divisions or units in the Department of Revenue within 90 days of closing. Vacancy Information: This position may be filled as either a Probational or Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); Promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agencywide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that the position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available. This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and is advertised as 1, 2, or 3. The level at which each vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. The maximum salary for the highest level of this position, Revenue Tax Auditor 3, is $42.91 per hour / $82,252 per year. This position is located in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. Applicants must select this parish on their application to indicate that they are available to work in the parish of this vacancy. This position will be domiciled from the incumbent's home. The incumbent does not have to reside in Terrebonne Parish but must be able to travel to locations in and around the Thiboeaux area and surrounding parishes. A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana. LA R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties. Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work. Applicants qualifying based on college training or receipt of a baccalaureate degree will be required to submit an official college transcript to verify credentials claimed prior to appointment. Copies of education transcript(s) must be added as an attachment to your online application, to verify the twenty-four (24) semester hours in Accounting that are required. The selected candidate will be required to submit original documentation upon hire. Responsibilities and/or Preferences: The Revenue Tax Auditor performs field audits of individuals, businesses and corporations to ensure compliance with Louisiana tax laws, regulations and policies, and the collection of taxes due. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: conducts examinations of tax reports; prepares audit reports; prepares correspondence to taxpayers; consults with and advises the administrative officers and/or owners of large corporations or their professional representatives; may travel to out-of-state metropolitan areas to conduct examinations and testifies before the courts on matters involving the audits performed.
