Advertised Job Summary
The public relations coordinator supports the communications and media relations needs for academic units represented by one of several interdisciplinary brand teams and provides multimedia content and planning for the Integrated Communications team within the Office of Communications and Public Affairs. Under the supervision of an associate director of integrated communications, the PR coordinator is a key member of the brand team that advises and supports on projects that are deemed shared priorities of the academic units that comprise the brand team and the university. The PR coordinator will advise administrators, faculty and staff on effective communications techniques; develop communications plans and creative briefs for major initiatives; and work collaboratively with other units in the Office of Communications and Public Affairs on projects that are deemed shared priorities of the academic units and the university. The PR coordinator has knowledge of a broad range of journalistic and multimedia tools, such as media software for news distribution and monitoring, as well as professional guidelines for journalism and public relations. In addition, the PR coordinator will have proven expertise in written and visual communication for print, web and social media, an ability to make complex research and concepts accessible to varied audiences, and proven success to pitch and place news stories regionally and nationally.
