Position Description Fire Marshal Internship (Outreach Communications Intern) The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office Internship program provides current college students who have a minimum of 60 credit hours and college graduates with the opportunity to solve long-term problems. The Summer, Fall, and Spring internship program beginning May 20, 2019, will include problems that are both challenging, complex, and area constructed to have a positive impact on the residents, employees, and visitors of Harris County. • Essential Duties and Responsibilities**: • Assists the Public Information Officer with communicational output to the residents, employees, and visitors of Harris County.
• Updates the department's social media platforms. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Harris County is an Equal Opportunity Employer**arriscountytx.gov/Pages/EqualEmploymentOpportunityPlan.aspx Requirements • Currently enrolled with a minimum of 60 college hours completed or has graduated from an accredited college/university with a major in Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Journalism, or Mass Communications. • Three (3) months of experience with software such as Canva, Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Cloud. • Three (3) months of experience with all social media platforms and social media scheduling software such as Hootsuite. • Ability to develop social media content. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. • _NOTE:_** To qualify for this position, required education, experience, knowledge and skills must be clearly stated on your application's employment history.
