The communications and marketing specialist will report to the Graduate Recruitment Coordinator and Sr. Director of Project Management and Communications. This individual will aid in the goal of increasing graduate applications and enrollments of prospective students through communication and marketing channels that include social media, email marketing, event coordination, advertising strategy, SEO, etc. Responsibilities Writing and interviewing: Contributes to the writing of websites, blogs, email campaigns, print copy, and video scripts. Works with student team and external sources to plan interviews of USU alumni and students. (30%) Internal and external PR management: Assists in the planning and execution of communication plans that involve coordination with internal and external groups. Contacts others who would be interested in sharing our content. Creates media packages. Writes news releases and editorial content. (30%) Social communication: Works in tandem with communications team members to promote USU and its School of Graduate Studies on websites and social platforms –Facebook, Twitter and others as they develop. Generates content schedules and reviews ad hoc opportunities. Feeds the social team's analytic reports to program leads and incorporates the metrics into the broader graduate recruitment plan. (25%) Event coordination: Assists in planning and execution of the Graduate Training Series, graduate student orientation and other workshops. Aids with the creation of related outreach, marketing and briefing materials. (15%) Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, technical writing, marketing or other related field OR 4 years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 or more years experience in writing across several genres -strategy-public relations, with demonstrable experience in integrated marketing and communications. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Must have a collaborative and strategic approach to new and ongoing responsibilities. Must be able to deliver both pragmatic and professional judgment to a range of groups Preferred Qualifications: Experience using social media and mass emailing in a professional setting. Proficiency in basic desktop publishing (ie. Adobe InDesign.) Previous experience working in a university environment, especially Graduate Studies.
